CHOOSING YOUR COURSE · 2027 PROGRAMME
Which course covers onlays, crowns and bonding?
Prepared by Sid Kothari Courses from the published course programme.
The five-day Prosthodontics Boot Camp is the most direct match for onlays, crowns and the cementation stage of indirect restorations. This programme is also offered as residency Module 3. If you mean direct composite techniques by “bonding”, also review Modules 1 and 2 of the residency.
Start with what you mean by bonding
Dentists may use “bonding” when discussing direct composite restorations or the placement of indirect restorations. These are related learning interests, but they do not map to exactly the same parts of the programme. Clarifying your goal helps you choose the most relevant course.
The published five-day syllabus lists cementation alongside impressions and provisionalisation. If you want teaching on a particular adhesive system, substrate or material, ask the course team to confirm the depth of coverage before booking.
For onlays and crowns: the five-day Boot Camp
The five-day Prosthodontics Boot Camp provides 35 CPD hours and is 50% hands-on. Its programme connects restorative selection with preparation exercises and subsequent restorative stages.
- Anterior restorations: treatment planning, selection of anterior restorations, crown preparation principles and hands-on crown preparation.
- Posterior restorations: starting quadrant dentistry, selecting posterior restorations, crown and onlay preparation principles and practical exercises.
- Bridges: resin-bonded and conventional bridge preparation, including hands-on exercises.
- Restorative stages: impression tips, provisional restorations and cementation.
- Implant restorations: restorative topics for implant crowns and bridges.
The five-day course is offered in Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Perth in 2027. Open the course page to see the dates and GST-inclusive fee for each city.
For the same fixed prosthodontics teaching within a broader programme
Residency Module 3 covers veneers, onlays, crowns, bridges and implant restorations. Its objectives also include restorative material selection, provisional restorations, conventional impressions and digital scanning workflows.
Choose the full residency if you also want the earlier planning and removable prosthodontics modules and four months of online case mentorship. The Boot Camp versus residency guide explains the difference in scope.
For direct composite training: review Modules 1 and 2
Module 1 includes case selection for direct composite and additive rehabilitation, anterior composite veneer exercises, posterior composite exercises, finishing and polishing. It sits alongside photography, smile design and treatment planning.
Module 2 includes the clinical applications of injectable composite techniques and an injectable composite exercise, alongside occlusion and removable prosthodontics. You can enquire about attending individual modules separately; availability and fees need confirmation.
For a focused bridge interest
The separate resin-bonded bridge course focuses on case selection, treatment planning and bridge preparation. It is a focused option for that treatment area rather than a replacement for the full crown and onlay syllabus. Its 2027 dates are currently to be confirmed.
Tell the team the skills you want to practise
When enquiring, specify whether your priority is onlay preparation, crown preparation, cementation of indirect restorations, direct composite veneers or injectable composites. That makes it easier to match your goals to the published programme.
