What to expect from hands-on prosthodontic training with Dr Sid Kothari

Prepared by Sid Kothari Courses from the published course programme.

Expect a combination of clinical explanation and practical exercises linked to the course you choose. The five-day Boot Camp concentrates on fixed and implant prosthodontics. The residency adds planning, composite and removable prosthodontic training, followed by four months of online case mentorship.

Connect treatment decisions with practical steps

Dr Sid Kothari’s teaching explains clinical workflows in manageable steps, helping dentists connect treatment planning with how procedures are carried out. The published programme combines theory with practical exercises rather than presenting the two as unrelated activities.

Dr Sid is a prosthodontist in Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast and a clinical educator. You can watch the course introduction to learn more about his approach.

What will you practise on the five-day Boot Camp?

The five-day Prosthodontics Boot Camp provides 35 CPD hours and is 50% hands-on. The programme moves through anterior restorations, posterior restorations, bridges, impressions, provisionalisation, cementation and implant restorations.

Hands-on exercises specifically listed in the syllabus include crown, onlay and bridge preparation. The wider teaching addresses restorative selection, starting quadrant dentistry and restorative workflows for implant crowns and bridges. Review the day-by-day objectives to see how the practical work fits the clinical teaching.

What does practical training include in the residency?

The one-year residency provides 91 CPD hours across three in-person modules and online case mentorship, with a 50% hands-on component. Practical topics span several parts of the restorative workflow:

Each module page separates learning objectives from practical exercises, so you can review the tasks most relevant to your current practice.

Bring your clinical questions into the learning process

The residency is designed for new graduates and experienced practitioners. Its approach is to build a repeatable workflow, apply learning between modules and return with cases and questions. Module 4 provides four months of online clinical case mentorship to support that process.

Case discussions cover structured histories, examinations, photographs, diagnoses and treatment plans, as well as alternative treatments, outcomes and opportunities for improvement. The mentorship forms part of the residency pathway.

Focused hands-on courses are also available

If you have a narrower learning goal, review the resin-bonded bridge course, four-day denture course or two-day crown lengthening and socket preservation course. The surgical programme lists 14 CPD hours and 50% hands-on training. The denture programme includes practical work on impressions, design, rests, guide planes and denture repairs.

Before you attend

Check your selected city and dates in the 2027 calendar, then review the fee, booking terms and course objectives. Ask the team what equipment or instruments to bring and whether any preparation is required; those requirements are not specified in the current website programme.
